Sadie's Daughter, Inc. is a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) nonprofit organization whose purpose is to mentor, educate, empower and inspire children growing up in the foster care system.
We provide education by giving free lectures in foster homes, group homes, schools, libraries, and other public venues.
Children in the foster care system have just as much potential as those who aren't. However, SOMETHING happens in the system that causes the results to diverse.
Our Mission is to work continuously to both empower and inspire youth while providing an immediate and lasting change in their lives.
Children in the foster care system have just as much potential as those who aren't. However, children who are in foster care tend to perform less than children who are not. Our program serves Miami-Dade county, the greater Miami area, and other areas of Southwest Florida. We provide our comprehensive programs to address the things that will help children who are at risk and in need of permanent connections due to being in foster care and spending time in the foster care system. The goal is to help them so that they succeed just as much as non-foster care children have. All that we ask of these children is to fulfill a simple promise:
Alecia has resided in Miami, Florida for the past twenty-five years after migrating from Jamaica at a very young age. She is a college graduate who holds an Associate of Science in Medical Assisting, a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration and currently pursuing an Associate of Arts in Psychology.
As a former foster child who grew up in the "system" until aging out at eighteen years old, Alecia has first hand knowledge of what it's like for youth growing up in foster care. In 2014 she established Sadie's Daughter, Inc. (SDI) which is a registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that was created to give back by connecting youth with positive members of their community, provide support, promote youth self-esteem and introduce youth to things outside of their current environment.
We provide comprehensive programs to address the things that will help children who are in need of permanent connections due to being in foster care. In addition, we also work closely with at-risk youth in the Miami-Dade county community who are in court ordered group homes and post-detention programs such as Miami Bridge Youth & Family Services and Girl Power Rocks. We also partner with groups such as Hands On Miami and Girl Up, to name a few.
